Sanjoy Roy is a Springback Academy mentor, editor of Springback Magazine, and of other publication projects by Springback and Aerowaves. He has been a dance writer for the Guardian newspaper (UK), and contributed to many other publications over the years, including Dancing Times, Dance Gazette, Dance International, Tanz Zeitschrift, CND Magazine, the New Statesman, and others.
He is author of Work/World, a series of short exploratory essays on the work of Ann Van den Broek, of the Guardian’s Step by Step Guides to Dance, and he conceived the animation series Planet Dance: A Visitor’s Guide to Contemporary Dance.
He was formerly editor and designer for Dance Books Ltd, after which he worked in the publication department of a translation agency. He designed this website, springback.org, and keeps an archive of his own published writing at sanjoyroy.net
